Jewelry Care
Your jewelry is designed to withstand the normal rigors of life, but keep in mind that it is still made from precious metals, so a bit of TLC goes a long way.
Gold Vermeil Care
- Remove your jewelry when bathing, swimming or intensely exercising to retain its quality and shine
- Avoid applying cleaning agents, beauty products, and chemicals before you put on your pieces
- Keep your pieces away from extreme temperatures, humidity or sunlight
- Store your pieces in a dry area to prevent exposure o the elements - like in your A+A microfiber pouch - when not in use
- To clean your vermeil, wipe it down thoroughly with a dry cotton cloth as needed
-
Avoid using a brush or coarse fabrics to clean vermeil jewelry as this can potentially scratch the surface.
Sterling Silver Care
Our silver jewelry is plated with rhodium and protected with an anti-tarnish solution that may wear with time and improper care. Tarnishing is a natural occurrence resulting from the chemical composition of certain metals. When metals react to elements like oxygen and sulfur, they undergo oxidation. Silver, in particular, is highly reactive to sulfur, leading to tarnishing. This reaction manifests as a dull or golden hue initially, progressing to a black coating over time.
Sulfur is naturally present in the air and the rate at which tarnishing occurs depends on the storage environment of your silver. Exposure to chemicals or gases accelerates tarnishing but even everyday items like eggs, hairspray, or perfume can contribute to tarnishing. Over time, these cumulative factors will tarnish your favorite silver pieces.
- Remove jewelry when washing your body, swimming, exercising, or cleaning
- Maintain your jewelry’s shine by avoiding contact with agents such as soaps, perfume, lotion, makeup, hair & cleaning products, etc.
- Keep your sterling silver in your A+A microfiber pouch when not in use
- Store your sterling silver in a dry area to prevent exposure to the elements
- Keep your pieces away from extreme temperatures, humidity or sunlight
- A silver cleaner can be used on pure Sterling Silver pieces, but not 18k Gold Vermeil
- To clean, rub your jewelry gently in one direction
- Do not use products like tissue paper or paper towels, as they can cause scratching.
